New York Pedicab Tour

The Ultimate Central Park Pedicab Tour Experience

Experience the ultimate Central Park Pedicab Tour! Explore the park's most iconic highlights in 60 minutes, including Bethesda Fountain, Strawberry Fields, and Cherry Hill. Our adventure travel family shares what you'll see along the way and why this unique pedicab tour is perfect for families visiting New York City!

The Ultimate Central Park Pedicab Tour Experience is one of the most unique and fun ways to explore the most famous park in New York City! A pedicab tour through Central Park lets your whole family experience the park’s most iconic landmarks and beautiful scenery at a relaxed pace. Unlike walking, which can be tiring for younger kids, or a bus tour, where you stay in one spot, a pedicab moves smoothly through the park while you sit comfortably and take in the views. Our adventure travel family took the 60-minute Central Park Pedicab Tour, which covers the southern loop and includes three stops where we stepped off to explore famous landmarks up close. From Bethesda Fountain to Strawberry Fields to Cherry Hill, every moment felt magical. Whether you are visiting Central Park for the first time or returning to see it again, a pedicab tour is an adventure your whole family will treasure!

What is the Central Park Pedicab Tour?

A Central Park Pedicab Tour is a guided tour through Central Park on a pedicab, which is a comfortable human-powered tricycle taxi. Your licensed NYC sightseeing guide pedals the pedicab while your family sits in a cushioned passenger cart with a protective canopy. The 60-minute tour takes you through the southern loop of Central Park, which showcases the park’s most famous highlights and most beautiful scenery. The tour includes three stops where you step off the pedicab to explore specific landmarks up close and take photos.

The beauty of a pedicab tour is the perfect balance it strikes! You move slowly enough to really see and appreciate the details of the park, but fast enough to cover significant ground. Your guide shares stories, history, and interesting facts about the landmarks and the park itself. The gentle pace is perfect for families because young kids and older family members do not get tired, and everyone stays engaged and entertained. Plus, the pedicab is fun and memorable in a way that walking or taking a bus tour just cannot match!

Getting Your Central Park Pedicab Tour Tickets

Booking the Central Park Pedicab Tour is easy through Your NYC Guide. The 60-minute tour is available daily, though hours vary by season. Tours typically depart every hour during operating hours. We recommend booking in advance, especially during summer months or holidays, as tours can fill up quickly. The cost is reasonable for a guided, private experience, and children often get discounted rates. Morning tours offer great light for photos and smaller crowds in the park, while afternoon tours mean the park has more life and activity.

When you book, you will receive information about where to meet your guide. The meeting point is near Central Park, usually on the west side. Arrive a few minutes early so you have time to find your guide and get settled in the pedicab before the tour begins. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a camera or phone for photos. In warmer months, sunscreen is a good idea since you will be sitting in the open. In cooler months, bring a light jacket as you will be moving through the park at a pace that creates a slight breeze.

When You Arrive for Your Central Park Pedicab Tour

When we arrived at the meeting point, our guide was waiting with a friendly smile and the pedicab. Our guide explained how everything worked, made sure we were all comfortable in the passenger cart, and asked if we had any questions before we started. He told us about the three stops where we would step off the pedicab and the landmarks and sights we would see along the way. Our girls were excited and ready to explore!

Our guide explained that the tour would be flexible! If we wanted to stop longer at a particular spot for photos or learn more about something interesting, we could ask him to pause. We settled into the comfortable seats with a light canopy above us providing shade, and off we went into Central Park. The moment we started moving through the park, we felt like we were on a real adventure!

Bethesda Fountain

Our first stop was the iconic Bethesda Fountain, one of the most recognizable and photographed landmarks in Central Park! The fountain sits at the heart of the park and is absolutely stunning. The beautiful sculptural details and the water features are impressive in person. Bethesda Terrace, which leads down to the fountain, has beautiful architecture and offers gorgeous views of the park. We stepped off the pedicab and our guide shared the history and stories behind the fountain while we took photos and explored the area.

Standing in front of Bethesda Fountain, we understood why it is featured in so many movies and TV shows. The fountain feels like the heart of Central Park, and being there in person was magical. Our guide explained the significance of the angel statue at the top of the fountain and the meaning behind the sculptures and details. He pointed out the best spots for photos and gave us time to wander around and soak in the beauty of this iconic location. Bethesda Fountain represents the kind of peaceful, beautiful escape that Central Park offers to New Yorkers and visitors alike.

Cherry Hill and Cherry Hill Fountain

Our next stop was Cherry Hill and the Cherry Hill Fountain. This spot offers beautiful views across the park and is especially lovely in spring when the cherry trees are in bloom. Our guide explained the history of Cherry Hill and pointed out the best views and photo spots. Spider Monkey loved learning that this area was one of the first parts of the park to be developed. From Cherry Hill, we could see across the park and understand the scale and layout of this incredible urban oasis.

Cherry Hill is a peaceful and often less crowded spot compared to some of the other famous landmarks in the park. We had time to relax, take photos, and simply enjoy the natural beauty surrounding us. The views from Cherry Hill looking out across the park are some of the most beautiful in all of Central Park. Our guide shared facts about the park’s design and how different areas were carefully planned to offer different experiences and views. Being on top of Cherry Hill, looking out at the park, we felt grateful to be experiencing this special place together as a family.

Strawberry Fields and the Imagine Mosaic

Our final stop was Strawberry Fields, the beautiful tribute garden dedicated to John Lennon of the Beatles. This peaceful, contemplative space sits at the edge of Central Park near where John Lennon lived. The mosaic artwork with the word Imagine is iconic and moving. Visitors from all over the world come to Strawberry Fields to pay respect and leave tributes. Our guide told us the story of John Lennon, his connection to the Beatles, and why this garden is so meaningful to people worldwide.

Even our kids felt the emotional power of this space. Strawberry Fields has a completely different energy from the other stops on the tour. It is quieter, more reflective, and deeply meaningful. We saw flowers, notes, and mementos left by visitors from every corner of the world. Our guide gave us time to explore the space at our own pace and take in the beauty and significance of this tribute to a musician who touched so many lives. Leaving Strawberry Fields, we all felt we had experienced something special and meaningful.

Landmarks and Sights Along the Way

Between the three main stops, our pedicab passed by many other famous Central Park landmarks and movie locations! We saw the Central Park Carousel, a beautiful and historic merry-go-round that has delighted visitors for generations. We spotted the Balto Statue, a famous bronze statue honoring the sled dog hero Balto. We passed The Dairy, a beautiful historic building that now serves as a visitor center. Our guide pointed out the Chess and Checkers House, where people gather to play games in the park.

One of the highlights for our family was seeing Pine Bank Arch, which was featured in the movie Elf during the famous snowball fight scene! Buttercup loved that we could see the actual location from a movie she knew and loved. We also rode past Tavern on the Green, a famous restaurant in the park with beautiful gardens, and along Sheep Meadow, a wide open grassy area where New Yorkers relax and spend time outdoors. Our guide brought each location to life with stories and historical details that made us appreciate and understand the park in a deeper way.

Family Verdict

Our family loved the Central Park Pedicab Tour! It was the perfect way to see the highlights of the park without getting tired from walking. Buttercup enjoyed the thrill of the unique vehicle, while Spider Monkey loved learning the stories and history behind each landmark. We highly recommend this tour to families visiting New York City!
