At Kualoa Ranch, you can choose between two exciting 2-hour UTV tour options. The narrated tour comes with a knowledgeable guide who shares insights about the terrain and history, while the non-narrated tour lets you drive your own vehicle, following a guide in the lead vehicle. Transportation & Orientation
Kualoa Ranch offers convenient transportation from Waikiki for select tours, available for an additional fee. Visitors can catch the bus at the Grand Islander Bus Depot at Hilton Hawaiian Village, where an hour-long ride to the ranch provides beautiful scenic views along the way. Upon arrival, guests are directed to the main building for an orientation and welcome speech before heading to their scheduled activities.

Upon arriving at Kualoa Ranch, we followed clear signs guiding us to the UTV tour starting point. While the bustling atmosphere initially seemed overwhelming, the staff efficiently directed everyone to their respective tours. Once at our designated area, we were provided with safety gear and a detailed orientation on how to operate the UTVs. This briefing ensured that we were fully prepared for the thrilling ride ahead.

Off on Our Adventure
The 2-hour UTV tour at Kualoa Ranch was an adrenaline-pumping adventure! We roared through vast green valleys and up thrilling mountain paths, surrounded by lush Hawaiian rainforest and dramatic cliffs towering into the sky.
As the smooth paved roads gave way to rugged dirt trails, we were enveloped in dust, making the ride feel even more intense. The landscape was jaw-dropping—jagged peaks draped in vibrant greenery, and every turn revealed a new breathtaking view, making us feel like we were in the middle of an epic adventure. The air was charged with excitement, and the rugged beauty of the terrain kept us on the edge of our seats!
As we ventured further into the mountains, we discovered iconic film locations and narrowly escaped our encounter with the lingering Jurassic residents.

Hawaii’s Backlot
Kualoa Ranch, famously known as “Hawaii’s Backlot,” has served as the stunning backdrop for over 70 Hollywood films and TV shows, attracting an audience of more than a billion people. It’s easy to see why—it’s a visual paradise! During our UTV tour, we visited iconic filming locations from blockbusters like Jurassic Park, 50 First Dates, and Jurassic World. The ranch has also been featured in epic films like Jumanji, Kong: Skull Island, and Pearl Harbor, as well as iconic TV shows such as Hawaii Five-O, Magnum P.I., and LOST.
Our tour didn’t hit every filming spot, but we did stop at three unforgettable Jurassic Park locations that took our breath away. As we cruised through the lush landscapes, we passed by even more legendary sites, each one offering a glimpse into cinematic history and reminding us why Kualoa Ranch is a true Hollywood treasure!

Farmer’s Market
As our thrilling 2-hour UTV tour concluded, we made our way back to the starting point to return our safety gear. But with over an hour to spare before our transport back, we headed to the farmers market for some shopping. Among the vibrant fruits and vegetables, we discovered two must-try local treats: apple bananas and ice cream bananas. These unique banana varieties offered a sweet twist on a familiar fruit, and we couldn’t resist the chance to try them. Each bite was a delightful revelation—sweet, creamy, and utterly delicious!
Even our usually picky eater, Spider Monkey, gave them her enthusiastic approval. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable adventure, combining local flavor with fun and exploration.

Food Options
The gift shop area was bustling with excitement, offering a charming “quick-service” style restaurant with a tempting selection of delicious bites. However, the long line tested our patience. Instead of waiting, the girls decided to skip the food and head over to pet the horses.
Before long, the bus arrived to take us back to the Hilton Hawaiian Village, ready for the next chapter of our adventure.
